Moving CFRP technology and 3D printing of titanium components centre stage at AIRTEC in Munich

Premium AEROTEC will be exhibiting at AIRTEC, the international trade fair for suppliers to the aerospace industry from 3 - 5 November in Munich. The corporate presentation will focus on innovations in the area of CFRP technology and 3D printing of metallic aircraft components (ALM, Additive Layer Manufacturing).

Premium AEROTEC delivers its biggest ever CFRP component

Premium AEROTEC has handed over the rear side shells for the first A350-1000 to Airbus at its Augsburg site. Each of the two side shells is over 17 metres in length and almost 5.5 metres wide. This makes them the largest aircraft components to be manufactured in CFRP in Europe. Together with the floor structure and the CFRP pressure bulkhead, which are both developed and produced in Augsburg, this will be assembled by Airbus in Hamburg to create the complete rear fuselage section of the first A350-1000.

Premium AEROTEC delivers its biggest ever CFRP component

Premium AEROTEC hands over the first front CFRP fuselage section for the A350-1000

Premium AEROTEC's Nordenham site has handed over the complete front fuselage section for the first A350-1000, the biggest version of the A350 XWB long haul aircraft which is largely manufactured from carbon fibre composite material (CFRP), to Airbus. Airbus will incorporate the section into the first -1000 test machine (MSN59). This fuselage section will be completed by a CFRP door frame, bringing significant savings in weight and costs. Delivery of the rear fuselage section from Augsburg is scheduled for the end of September.

Premium AEROTEC commences its production for the A330neo

Aerostructures supplier Premium AEROTEC started manufacturing of parts for the first A330neo. Airbus COO Tom Williams witnessed the first metal cut at the company’s plant in Varel in Northern Germany. Together with further parts, the now commenced aluminium frame will form a door frame for the new Airbus long-range airliner.

Premium AEROTEC reaches an agreement on collaboration for the industrialisation of “printed” aircraft components

Premium AEROTEC comes a significant step closer to introducing series production of 3D printed aircraft components. The company has agreed to work together with Laser Zentrum Nord GmbH to certify the processes needed for the manufacturing of “printed” aircraft components and to begin series production.

Thomas Ehm new at the helm of Premium AEROTEC

Dr. Thomas Ehm (48) has assumed the leadership of the aviation supplier Premium AEROTEC. The company had already announced this step at the start of June. As Chairman of the Board of Management, he is responsible for the strategic and operational objectives of Premium AEROTEC. The Supervisory Board appointed Frank Müller (47) as the new Head of Human Resources.

Changes in Premium AEROTEC’s top management team

Top management team of aerostructures supplier Premium AEROTEC will change: Dr. Christoph Hoppe, chairman of the board of management, will leave the company after successful restructuring upon his own request. In autumn 2015 he will take on a new professional challenge outside Airbus Group. His successor will be Dr. Thomas Ehm (48), who is currently Head of Human Resources and member of the board of management of Airbus in Germany. The supervisory board of Premium AEROTEC has appointed him with effect of 1 July 2015.

Premium AEROTEC delivers first door frame made of CFRP for the A350-1000

Premium AEROTEC has reached the next milestone in the A350 XWB programme: In Varel, the company has delivered the first door frame made of carbon fibre composite material (CFRP) for the A350-1000. This is the first door frame made of CFRP used in an Airbus aircraft.

At Aero India 2015, Premium AEROTEC received the first aluminium series components from Aequs Aerospace as part of a long term agreement to supply the Airbus Legacy programme.

Premium AEROTEC’s Augsburg plant starts its A350-1000 production

At aerostructures supplier Premium AEROTEC production for the largest A350 XWB version is now running for all of the company’s work packages: At its Augsburg plant, laying the first carbon fibre layers of a rear fuselage shell began as scheduled. In October 2014, Premium AEROTEC had launched production for its first A350-1000 work package at its plant in Nordenham.
