Federal Minister of Economics Philipp Rösler visits Premium AEROTEC
In the run-up to the ILA Berlin Air Show, the minister’s visit underscores the steadily increasing political interest in Premium AEROTEC. The key factor for this is the company’s leading role in the technological transition from largely metal aircraft construction to carbon fibre composite (CFC) materials.
“Thanks to its technological excellence and readiness for innovation, the aviation industry has promising future prospects. Premium AEROTEC plays a key role in this,” said Dr. Philipp Rösler, Federal Minister of Economics, during his visit to Augsburg. As Minister of Economics for Lower Saxony as well as at Federal level, Rösler has been following the development of Premium AEROTEC since the company’s inception. “It is impressive to see what has been achieved at the various sites over the past few years. If Premium AEROTEC continues to expand its research and development capacities, I see the company well positioned for the future.”
“Given the high volume of orders in civil aviation, we are today setting the course for the future,” stated Kai Horten, CEO of Premium AEROTEC. “Our dedicated and highly qualified employees are a crucial factor in this growth. At the same time we are continuing to invest in our development and production capabilities. This is clearly evidenced by our new production facilities for the A350 XWB and our development centre which is currently under construction.”
During Rösler’s tour of the new hall, Kai Horten and Augsburg Plant Manager Peter Schwarz gave the minister a comprehensive overview of Premium AEROTEC’s technological competencies – particularly with respect to the development and production of CFC fuselage shells for the A350 XWB.
Premium AEROTEC generated revenues of 1.3 billion euros in 2011. Its core business is the development and manufacturing of metal and carbon composite aerostructures and the associated equipment and production systems. The company has production plants in Augsburg, Bremen, Nordenham and Varel in Germany, and in Braşov (Romania).
