Premium AEROTEC has completed the first Barrier Wall for the new Airbus A330-200F

The German aerostructures supplier Premium AEROTEC succeeded in 20 months to develop and deliver the first Barrier Wall for the new Airbus A330-200 freighter version.

This complex structure, to be installed between freight compartment and the cockpit, is safeguarding the aircraft’s crew in case of a shifting load. Having a weight of 430 kilograms only, the Barrier Wall is able to catch load impacts of up to 340 tons.

Premium AEROTEC has completed this structure in the record time of 20 months between order and delivery; now completely installed, it will be shipped to the Airbus assembly line.

As the only modern mid-size, long-haul freighter on the market today, the Airbus A330-200F is capable of carrying 64 metric tons over 4,000 nm/7,400 km, or 69 tons to a distance of 3,200 nm/5,930 km.

Premium AEROTEC has more than 6,000 employees and expects to generate revenues of about one billion Euros for 2009. Premium AEROTEC’s core business is the development and manufacturing of metal and carbon composite aerostructures and the corresponding production systems. The company has plants in Augsburg, Nordenham and Varel.
